SOUTHWEST GAS TO PERFORM
CONTROLLED GAS RELEASE IN HENDERSON
Southwest Gas will perform controlled natural gas releases on Mon., Sept. 21, and Tues., Sept. 22, between the hours of 6 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the area of Sunset Rd. and Windy Rd. The company does not expect an interruption in service during the controlled releases, which will take about 60 minutes.
Southwest Gas officials want to reassure the public that this is a routine procedure. It is part of a pipeline maintenance project and the short term release of natural gas is necessary when such work is performed. As a result of the release, the odor of rotten eggs will be noticeable and a noise similar to that of a jet engine will be heard. The company recommends that pets be leashed or kept inside during this time due to the anticipated noise.
Members of the public should call Southwest Gas at (702) 365-2040 if they have any concerns or questions. Officials from the City of Henderson and Clark County, including the fire and police departments have been notified of the controlled release.
Southwest Gas provides natural gas service to more than 1.8 million customers in Arizona, California and Nevada.
