Traffic Restrictions Expected
TUCSON, Ariz. – Contractors for Southwest Gas are anticipated to begin on Monday, May 18, 2015 installing a gas main that will cross East Sixth Street near the University of Arizona’s football stadium.
All work will be performed between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. and is anticipated to last about three weeks. The work on the gas main will affect several streets in the project area that include East Sixth Street near Arizona Stadium, North Warren Avenue south of Sixth Street and National Championship Drive to the north of Sixth Street as follows:
-
Traffic flow on East Sixth Street in the affected area will be shifted to one lane in each direction during the nighttime construction hours
-
North Warren Avenue will be closed completely from East Sixth Street to the nearest alley heading south for the duration of the project
-
National Championship Drive will be affected intermittently
There will be no work in front of the Sun Tran bus stop located on the north side of Sixth Street between Warren Avenue and North Campbell Avenue and it will be operational during construction, although traffic control may affect pedestrian access. Vehicular access to businesses, residences and University of Arizona parking lots will be maintained.
