Southwest Gas Hosts Blood Drive

Category: California
Victorville, Calif. – Southwest Gas and its Blue – Building Lives Up Everywhere volunteer team are partnering with LifeStream on Friday, March 25th, to host a community blood drive. The public is invited to visit LifeStream’s mobile unit that will be located in the parking lot of Southwest’s Victorville business office, 13471 Mariposa Road, between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., to donate blood.

“Southwest’s BLUE – Building Lives Up Everywhere volunteer team focuses on meeting community needs and hosting this blood drive is just one way we support our High Desert Community,” said Anthony Porter, Southwest’s Southern California Division Blue Committee Chairman. “Our employees will be donating during this drive, and we encourage our community to join us.”

According to LifeStream, one in seven people will need a blood transfusion sometime in their lifetime. More than 500 donations of lifesaving blood are needed each day to meet patient needs in Southern California alone. Since 40 percent of the blood collected comes from other parts of the country, it is important to hold blood drives locally. Donating blood is safe, easy and takes about an hour. Donors must weigh 110 pounds or more, be in overall good health and should be at least 17 years old (ages 15 and 16 may donate if they meet the criteria and present a signed parental consent form). Prospective donors must present a photo ID.

Southwest Gas provides natural gas service to more than 1.9 million customers in Arizona, California and Nevada.
